Format for calling a US toll-free number (from India) Exit code for India + Country code for US + Toll free code + Phone number
Based on the above table, you now have the format for dialing the number. Let us break down this table into a more understandable form:
Exit code for India –
The exit code for India is 00, this number is required whenever you are dialing an international number. It always comes first, before dialing all other codes and the main phone number.
Country Code for the US – The country code for the US is 1 and is followed by the exit code. Each country also has a different country code, as does the exit code. If you ever need to find the country code of another country, you can easily find these codes online.
Toll Free Codes – All toll-free numbers are charged whenever a call comes in, thus the caller will not have any charges. But generally, this is applicable only for local calls and not for international calls. Toll free codes in the US are mainly 800, 888, 877, 855 and 844.
Phone Number – This is the main phone number that you enter after the toll free code. This is usually a seven digit number.
So with that in mind, you can input the following values:
00+1+800+1234567
If ever the toll free number is in this format:
1 800 1234567
Then, you already have the country code, toll free code, and phone number. You just need to enter the exit code for India at the beginning of this number. The final number should look like this:
00 1 800 1234567 (note that the plus sign is not actually included in the final format)
I hope this works for you!:)
